ඩෙස්ක්ටොප් එකේ අයිකන් තොග පුරවගෙන නැත්නම් ආරම්භක මෙනුව පුරා දුව දුව, ඒත් නැත්නම් අර මං කලින් කිව්වා වගේ ප්‍රෝග්‍රෑම් දහයක් දොළහක් විතරක් දාන්න පුළුවන් ඩොක් එකක් දාගෙන වැඩසටහන් දියත් කරපු කාලය ඉවර කරන්න ලෑස්ති වෙන්න. ලෝන්චි, තවත් එක වැඩසටහන් දියත්කරණයක් නෙවෙයි. වැඩසටහන් දියත් කිරීම වගේම තවත් වැඩ තොගයක් එකවර කරන්න පුළුවන් නියම මෘදුකාංගයක්! ඇපල් පරිගණක භාවිතා කරන අය ඉන්නවනම් දන්නවා ඇති ක්වික්සිල්වර් ගැන. ඇපල් වලට ක්වික්සිල්වර් වගේ වින්ඩෝස් වලට තියෙන මෘදුකාංග වලින් එකක් තමයි මේ ලෝන්චි කියන්නේ.

මොකක්ද ඇත්තටම මේ ලෝන්චි වලින් වෙන්නේ? සරලයි. ලෝන්චි ස්ථාපනය කළාට පස්සේ වින්ඩෝස් ඇරඹෙන හැම වතාවකම එය පසුබිමින් ප්‍රවේශනය වේවි. ප්‍රවේශනය වී ඔබේ පරිගණකයේ ප්‍රධානම මෘදුකාංග, කෙටි මං, ෆයර්ෆොක්ස් පොත් යොමු (Bookmarks), පාලක පැනලයේ වැඩසටහන් සියල්ලම සූචිගත කරගනීවි. ඉන්පස්සේ එහි සාමාන්‍ය යතුරුපුවරු කෙටි මග වන Alt+Space ඇතුල් කළ විගස දිස්වේවි. දැන් ඉතින් කරන්න තියෙන්නේ ඔබට අවශ්‍ය දේ යතුරුලියනය කිරීම පමණයි. ඔබට අවශ්‍ය දේ දන්නා ලෝන්චි ක්ෂණිකවම දියත් කර දේවි!

මෘදුකාංග දියත් කිරීම පමණක් නෙවෙයි. ෆයර්ෆොක්ස් පොත් යොමු (කලින් කිව්වා නේද?), දෘඪ තැටියේ ෆෝල්ඩර හා ගොනු, අපට අවශ්‍ය ගොනු, අපට අවශ්‍ය විධාන දියත් කිරීමත්, සරල ගණක යන්ත්‍රයක් ලෙස කටයුතු කිරීමත් ලෝන්චි හි තවත් විශේෂ හැකියාවන්. හැඩ වැඩ වැඩිකරගන්න ලස්සන පැළඳුම් (Skins) ටිකකුත් තියෙනවා. ටික දිනක් පාවිච්චි කරලා දැන් නම් ලෝන්චි නැතුවම බැරි මෘදුකාංගයක් වෙලයි තිබෙන්නේ. ඔබටත් එහෙම වෙයිද? උත්සාහ කරලා බලන්න. The time when you placed hundreds of icons on your desktop, the time when you ran through menus in the start menu, the time you used docks that hold a few programs is going to end. Launchy: it’s not another launcher. It’s cool program that’ll launch programs and do many stuff for your convenience. If there’s any Apple users, they’ll know Quicksilver. What does launchy do, anyway? Simple. After you install launchy it’ll load automatically everytime when you load Windows (or Windoez, whatever you like 😀 ) After loading it’ll index your program shortcuts, Firefox Bookmars, Control Panel Applications etc. Then comes the magic. Just hit Alt+Space (it’s the default, you can change it later) and type away what you need. Launchy will know what you need and it’ll launch it right away!

Not just launching programs. As I said before Launchy launches Firefox Bookmarks, Common Websites (like Google) Files and Folders, Commands etc. You can specify what you need to index anytime. ජීමේල් මගින් දැන් POP වලට අමතරව IMAP සේවාවද ඇතුළත් කර ඇත. ඔබගේ ගිණුමේත් IMAP ඇත්දැයි පරික්ෂා කර බැලීමට Settings වෙත යන්න. එහි Forwarding and POP වෙනුවට Forwarding and POP/IMAP ලෙස සඳහන් වී ඇත්නම් ඔබගේ ගිණුමේත් IMAP සහය සක්‍රිය කර ඇත. ඔබගේ ඊමේල් මෘදුකාංගය සඳහා IMAP සැකසුම් ලබාගැනීමට මෙම පිටුවට පිවිසෙන්න.

Gmail has enabled IMAP support to most of it’s accounts. If you want to check if it’s available or not, go to Settings in Gmail. If there is a tab named Forwarding and POP/IMAP instead of Forwarding and POP congrats, you now have IMAP support in your gmail account. මම සාමාන්‍යයෙන් පාවිච්චි කරන්නේ විනැම්ප්. ෆූබාර්2000 ගැන කලින් අහලා තිබුණත් පාවිච්චි කරන්න හිතුණේ නැහැ. ඊයේ දැකපු ස්ක්‍රීන්ෂොට් එකකින් තමා ෆූබාර් පාවිච්චි කරලා බලන්න හිතුණේ. හිතුවටත් වැඩිය හොඳයි. අමතර එකතුකිරීම් ගොඩක් ලබාගන්න පුළුවන්. ප්‍රමාණයත් ඉතාම කුඩායි. උත්සාහ කර බලන්න: ෆූබාර්2000

I normally use Winamp for my music. I’ve heard about foobar2000 before. But never used it becaused it looked ‘poor’ in eye-candy. After seeing some dainty screenshots of foobar2000 in action, I thought I’ll give it a try. It’s extremely fast since it has a small memory footprint. And it’s highly customizable. මං ළඟදි පෙන්ඩ්‍රයිව් එකක් ගත්තා කියලා කිව්වා නේද? ඔන්න ඒකෙ පිහිටෙන් දැන් සීඩී නාස්ති කරන්නෙ නැතුව ෆයිල්ස් එහා මෙහා ගෙනියනවා. ඒත් ඉතින් සීඩී වගේ නෙමෙයි. මේ පෙන්ඩ්‍රයිව් පාවිච්චි කරන ගොඩක් පරිගණක වල වෛරස් තොග පිටින් හැමදාම ඩ්‍රයිව් එකට එනවා. සීඩී වලට ගොඩක් වෙලාවට ආයෙම මුකුත් Write කරන්නෙ නැති හින්දා ප්‍රශ්නයක් නැහැ. ගොඩක් අය කැමති නැහැ මේ වගේ වෛරස් මැෂින් එකට එනවට. ඒ වුණාට මට දැන් ළඟකදි ඉඳන් වෛරස් එන එක සතුටක් වෙලා! 😀 විහිළුවක් නෙමෙයි.

දැන් මං සාමාන්‍යයෙන් ෆොටෝස් ප්‍රින්ට් කරගන්න ගෙනියන්නෙ නුවර ෆොටෝ ප්‍රින්ටින් ආයතනයකට. එතන මැෂින් වල පෙන්ඩ්‍රයිව් හරහා පැතිරෙන වෛරස් ගොඩක් තියෙනවා. (විශේෂයෙන්ම W32/Autorun.bd Worm එක.) පළමු වතාවටම මේ කරදරේ ආවම පුදුම තරහක් ආවේ. ප්‍රතිවෛරස මෘදුකාංගයක් ති‍බුණු නිසා ඒකට අහුවුණත්, Registry එකේ පොඩි සැකසුමක් වෙනස් වුණා. ඒකත් හදාගත්තට පස්සේ සියළුම ධාවක වලින් Autoplay ක්‍රියාවිරහිත කළා. දැන් නම් ප්‍රශ්නයක් නෑ. මේ සිදුවීම වුණාට පස්සේ ආයෙමත් පරණ විදියට සීඩී වලින් ෆයිල්ස් ගෙනියන්න කියලා අවවාද ලැබුණත් එහෙම කරන්න හිතුණේ නෑ. දැන් හැමදාම ගෙනියන්නේ පෙන්ඩ්‍රයිව් එක. වෛරස් එකකුත් අනිවාර්යයෙන්ම වගේ තියෙනවා. ඒ වුණාට ප්‍රතිවෛරස් මෘදුකාංගයෙන් ඒක අල්ලගන්නකොට හිතට දැනෙන්නේ අමුතුම සතුටක්! 😀

I bought a pendrive recently. I told you, didn’t I? Well thanks to my obedient device I move files around without wasting cd’s. But unlike cd’s, it gets infected with viruses whenever I plug it in to another pc. Most people don’t like it. (Yeah, who likes viruses wiping out their whole hard drive? :D) But hell, I happen to like these viruses! 😀 I’m not joking.

I usually Print photos from a photo printing shop in Kandy city. Most of the pc’s running there holds tons of viruses. Mostly notorious little brats which spread through Pendrives. (Specially W32/Autorun.bd Worm) When I first got (almost) infected, it pissed me off. Well the AV caught it – but it changed some registry settings that took a long time to fix. After fixing that, I’ve disabled autoplay from all drives to keep it secure. I got advices to take files on cd’s like the good old days – but I didn’t. I take the pendrive every time and when I bring it home with a virus, when the Antivirus program catches it – it just feels good! 😀
